Summary
Olympic Commemorative Silver Dollar Act - Amends the Coinage Act of 1965 to provide for the minting of not more than twenty-five million one-dollar coins with a design emblematic of the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games. Specifies the size and weight of such coins. Specifies certain inscriptions to be placed on such coins. Provides that such coins shall be sold to the public at a price equal to the cost of minting plus a surcharge of not less than 25 percent of such cost. Directs that an amount equal to one-half of all surcharges collected shall be paid by the Secretary of the Treasury to the United States Olympic Committee to be used to train United States athletes for participation in the Olympic games. Directs that the remaining one-half of all surcharges collected shall be used for the sole purpose of reducing the national debt. Authorizes the Comptroller General to audit the records of the United States Olympic Committee with respect to any amounts paid pursuant to this Act. Provides that all such coins shall be legal tender. Directs that no such coins shall be minted after December 31, 1985. Authorizes appropriations.
