Summary

Auto Safety Assurance Act of 2003 - Amends Federal transportation law to direct the Secretary of Transportation to prescribe an amendment to the Federal Motor Vehicle Standard 206 issued under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 requiring all passenger cars manufactured after December 31, 2005, to be fitted with equipment which automatically locks the vehicle's doors when the vehicle transmission is engaged or the vehicle reaches a specified rate of speed, and vehicle trunk lock mechanisms that permit unlatching from inside the trunk.
