Summary
Medicare Coverage of Infectious Diseases Therapy Act of 1996 - Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to study and report to the Congress on coverage of outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy, drugs, and services under title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act (SSA). Amends SSA title XVIII to provide for Medicare coverage of such antimicrobial-related items if outpatient administration would result in reduced costs.
