Summary

Increases the number of Superior Court judges in the District of Columbia from 43 to 50. Amends the District of Columbia Self-Government and Governmental Reorganization Act to provide for appointment of judges of the Court of Appeals and of Superior Court by the Mayor (currently, by the President) with the advice and consent of the City Council (currently, the Senate). Directs the Mayor to nominate all judges of the District of Columbia courts. Directs the District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission to nominate candidates to fill the vacancies created by this Act within 30 days after its enactment.
