Summary

Comprehensive School Safety Act - Authorizes the Secretary of Education to make competitive grants to State educational agencies (SEAs) to make subgrants to local educational agencies (LEAs) to enable schools to develop and implement comprehensive school safety plans. Requires LEAs to use such subgrants to: (1) assess the current status of school crime committed on school campuses and at school-related functions; (2) identify appropriate strategies and programs that will provide or maintain a high level of school safety; and (3) provide each school served by such agency a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning. Authorizes appropriations.
