Summary

Peace Corps Revitalization Act - Amends the Peace Corps Act to declare it is a purpose of the Peace Corps to provide, by the end of FY 1986, opportunities for at least 10,000 volunteers at any one time. Requires the annual reports to Congress on the Peace Corps to include a description of plans to implement such purpose and information relating to applications for the Peace Corps and inquiries by countries about the Peace Corps. Establishes a Board of Trustees to carry out the Peace Corps Act. (Currently, the President is authorized to carry out the Act.) Requires the Board to carry out all of the authorities conferred on the President by such Act except for five specified provisions. Sets forth the membership of the Board. Requires the Board to appoint a Director and Deputy Director of the Peace Corps. Requires the Board to establish procedures to maximize cooperation and coordination of Peace Corps programs with the programs of other volunteer and development organizations. Authorizes the President (currently the Director of the Peace Corps) to prescribe regulations to ensure that no individual performing services for the Peace Corps shall engage in an activity detrimental to U.S. interests. Allocates funds to the Board of Directors. Prohibits the Peace Corps from using a political test or political qualification in selecting volunteers or other persons under this Act. Imposes equal opportunity requirements on the Peace Corps in all actions affecting volunteers and persons employed under the Peace Corps Act. Authorizes the Board to enter into agreements with other Federal agencies for the employment or assignment of employees of such agencies. Sets forth other authorities of the Board.
