Summary
Great Lakes Protection Act - Provides that no Great Lakes State shall sell or otherwise transfer out of such State water which is taken from any Great Lakes State or the Great Lakes drainage basin unless: (1) there is in effect an interstate compact among the Great Lakes States which governs such sale or transfer; or (2) each of the Great Lakes States consents to such sale or transfer. Defines Great Lakes States as Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Wisconsin. Prohibits any Federal study of Great Lakes water diversion unless such study is undertaken by the Corps of Engineers under the direction of the International Joint Commission in accordance with the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909.
