Summary

Medical Financial Privacy Protection Act - Amends the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act to prohibit a financial institution from disclosing to an affiliate or nonaffiliate, without affirmative consent: (1) individually identifiable health information on a consumer; (2) if derived from individually identifiable health information, a list of the consumer's transactions or a description of a consumer's interests, preferences, or other characteristics; or (3) an aggregate list of consumers derived from individually identifiable health information. Regulates exceptions, redisclosure and reuse of information, information requests by the institution to the consumer, and consumer access to and correction or deletion of information. Requires a separate and specific consent regarding mental health or mental condition information.
