Summary
Art Bank Act of 1979 - Establishes within the National Endowment for the Arts an Art Bank to be headed by a Director. Authorizes the Director to: (1) purchase visual works of art for the Art Bank; (2) provide for the safe and secure storage, transportation, and insurance of such works; (3) make such works available on loan to Federal facilities; (4) make such works available on loan to museums, and by lease to State and local governments, nonprofit institutions, and private corporations for public display; (5) sponsor exhibitions of works from the Art Bank; (6) select periodically works from the Art Bank for public auction; and (7) assist State and local governments and nonprofit institutions in the establishment of art banks.
