Summary

Forest Land Vegetation Management Act of 1981 - Directs the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior to employ labor intensive vegetation management practices on Bureau of Land Management forest lands. Requires the Secretaries to make a written determination of need before beginning vegetation management practices at a particular site. Includes within such determination: (1) an assessment of timber stand condition; (2) a showing that undesired vegetation is the cause of the site's problems; (3) a finding of timber production suitability; and (4) an assessment of disease potential. Requires the Secretaries to monitor the results of vegetation management practices, including data on water quality in cases of aerial herbicide spraying. Requires the Secretaries to: (1) make such written determination available for public inspection at least 60 days before beginning any vegetation management work; and (2) in the case of herbicide spraying, notify affected persons at least 30 days before spraying and again 48 hours before beginning such spraying.
