Summary

Department of Veterans Affairs Research Corporations Accountability Act of 2002 - Requires annual reports from Department of Veterans Affairs research corporations to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to include: (1) a description of each funded, ongoing research project or activity; (2) the amounts controlled and amounts received by the corporation; and (3) an itemized accounting of all disbursements. Requires each corporation with a balance of funds of $300,000 or less during a year to obtain an independent audit at least every three years. Requires audit reports to state the amount and recipient of any payment or travel provided to any member of the board of directors. Requires the Department Inspector General to review the most recent audits of at least ten percent of all such corporations. Requires each annual report from the Secretary to the congressional veterans' committees concerning such corporations to be based on the corporations' annual reports. Extends through 2006 the authority of the Secretary to establish such corporations.
