Summary

Model Tourist Experience Center Act of 1979 - Directs the Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of the Interior, and the Chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority to cooperate with the Appalachian Regional Commission and with interested State and local agencies for the preparation of a plan for the construction and operation of a Mountain Experience Center in western North Carolina. Requires such plan to provide for a Center to develop and implement public information and education programs to provide the visitors and residents of western North Carolina with information relating to the nature, location and extent of natural, cultural, outdoor recreational, and historic features of the region, and education to teach and promote conservation, outdoor skills and safety. Requires the Secretary of Agriculture to submit such plan to the House Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs.
