Summary

Amends the Federal criminal code to impose an additional, mandatory, minimum one-year term of imprisonment for whoever is armed with a firearm or destructive device while engaged in the commission of a crime of violence. Defines "crime of violence" to include: murder; voluntary manslaughter; Presidential assassination, kidnapping, and assault; rape; kidnapping; assault with intent to kill, rob, rape, or poison; assault with a dangerous weapon; robbery; burglary; theft or looting; racketeering; extortion; and arson. Prohibits the court from suspending the first year of any such sentence or granting probation.
