Summary
Amends title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act to authorize payment under the Medicare program for physicians' services and supplies furnished outside the United States to an individual enrolled in the program if: (1) the individual is a U.S. resident; (2) the services were furnished at a facility which was closer to, or substantially more accessible from, the individual's residence than the nearest U.S. facility adequately equipped to provide such services; (3) travel to the facility was less expensive than travel to an appropriate U.S. facility; and (4) prior to furnishing the services, approval was provided by the carrier administering the benefits.
