Summary
Amends the National School Lunch Act to extend the commodity distribution program. Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to carry out one or more pilot projects to determine more efficient ways of operating school lunch programs. Establishes procedures for the Secretary to follow in providing assistance to States to insure (1) local and State input; (2) cost review; (3) technical assistance; and (4) properly times deliveries. Directs the Secretary to report to the Congress within 18 months the impact of such procedures and the results of such pilot project or projects.
