Summary
Truth in Hospital Billing Act - Amends Titles XVIII (Medicare) and XIX (Medicaid) of the Social Security Act to require hospitals with 50 or more beds providing service under such Titles to furnish patients with written notice of charges for inpatient hospital services within ten days after the last day of each service period. Requires hospitals to include in such notice: (1) a brief description of the particular service; (2) a statement of the duration or quantity of the service; (3) a statement of the unit basis for computing charges; and (4) a statement of the total charge. Defines the term "service period" as a period of 30 consecutive days during which inpatient hospital services were provided.
