A bill to establish the National Commission for the Preservation of Foreign Language Resources.

Summary

Establishes a National Commission for the Preservation of Foreign Language Resources composed of 10 members to: (1) develop national policy for the identification, preservation, and improvement of national foreign languages resources; (2) evolve an active program for the conservation of the foreign language resources of the United States; (3) serve as consultant and coordinator to National and State professional educational associations for the development and implementation of programs and activities designed to preserve and identify national foreign language resources; (4) identify information needed to inventory foreign language resources, and coordinate the development of this data with the various executive departments; and (5) provide data on national foreign language resources to Federal, State, and local government agencies, educational systems, colleges, universities, and private businesses, in accordance with demonstrated needs and national interest. Provides that the Commission shall submit a report annually of the results of its program to each House of Congress and to the President.
