Summary
Arms Transportation Security Act of 1983 - Directs the Secretary of Transportation to study: (1) the prevalent causes of losses of firearms, ammunition, and explosives (including components) being transported in interstate commerce by private persons or government agencies; (2) the standards of security necessary to provide adequate protection from losses of such items; and (3) the appropriate measures necessary to achieve such standards. Directs the Secretary to report to the President and Congress within one year on the results of such study.
