Protection of Animals in Research Act

Summary

Protection of Animals in Research Act - Establishes the Commission for the Protection of Animals in Research. Directs the Commission to: (1) study and recommend alternatives to current procedures in which live animals are used experimentally in laboratory research and testing; and (2) evaluate the effectiveness of laboratory research and testing using such alternatives. Directs the Commission to transmit to the President and the Congress annual reports containing a detailed statement of the activities, findings and conclusions of the Commission, together with its recommendations. Terminates the Commission five years after the date of enactment. Authorizes appropriations for fiscal years 1982-1986.
