Summary

Collision Damage Waiver Act - Prohibits rental car companies, in private passenger automobile rental agreements of 30 days or less, from: (1) holding any authorized driver liable for any damage, with specified exceptions; (2) offering to sell any collision damage waivers for any of the specified exceptions or any applicable deductible; (3) bringing an action for damage against such a renter who is a U.S. resident except in the renter's home State; or (4) requiring or requesting a security deposit for damage during the rental period or pending resolution of any dispute. Subjects rental car companies to a penalty of from $500 to $1,000 for each violation of this Act.
