A bill to amend chapter 53 of title 5, United States Code, to authorize the repayment of student loans for recruiting and retaining certain Federal employees.

Summary

Authorizes Federal department or agency heads to repay student loans for highly qualified professional, technical, or administrative employees. Specifies loans eligible for such repayment. Requires an employee whose student loan is repaid under this Act to sign an agreement requiring: (1) a specified period of service; (2) an acceptable performance level for the repayment period or a resumption of repayment if such employee fails to meet such level; and (3) that if such employee is separated from Federal service before the end of such repayment period such employee shall resume repayment in accordance with the original student loan agreement.
