Summary

Authorizes broadcasters, cable operators, and program producers to jointly establish voluntary family and children's viewing hours, a voluntary code of standards and practices related to indecent, sexual, or violent program content, voluntary measures to inform viewers of compliance with such code, a voluntary system for rating and encoding programming, and voluntary schedule restrictions for advertising and programming unsuitable for children. Allows the Federal Communications Commission to limit or revoke such authority when in the public interest.
