Summary

Older Workers Conservation Corps Act - Authorizes the Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior to establish an Older Workers Conservation Corps in order to foster and promote useful part-time work opportunities in various and related conservation activities for unemployed low-income persons who are fifty-five years old and older and who have poor employment prospects. Authorizes the Secretaries: (1) to enter into agreements where feasible with public or private nonprofit agencies or organizations, agencies of a State government or a political subdivision of a State, or a combination of such political subdivisions, in order to further the purposes and amend such regulations as may be necessary to effectively carry out the provisions of this Act. Authorizes the Secretaries to pay not to exceed ninety percent of the cost of any project which is the subject of any such agreement. Provides that eligible individuals who are employed in any project funded by this Act shall not be considered to be Federal employees. Provides that no contract shall be entered into under this Act with a contractor who is or whose employees are, under State law, exempted from the operation if the State workman's compensation law. Authorizes to be approrpriated to carry out this Act $130,000,000 for the fiscal year 1974, and $150,000,000 for the fiscal year 1975.
