Summary

Directs the Office of Technology Assessment to request the National Academy of Sciences to conduct two studies of malpractice insurance problems among physicians and hospitals. States that one study shall consider interim arrangements for the solution of such problems and shall be related to Medicare. Requires that such study be submitted to the Congress by July 1, 1975. States that the other study shall be longer range; designed to explore the field more thoroughly and to provide a basis for long-range recommendations for the permanent solution of such problems. Requires that this study be submitted to the Congress not later than May 1,1976. Authorizes to be appropriated to the Office of Technology Assessment such sums as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act.
