Summary

Mandatory Detention for Offenders Convicted of Serious Crimes Act - Amends the Federal criminal code to require the detention, pending sentence or appeal, of any person found guilty of a crime of violence, an offense for which the maximum sentence is life imprisonment or death, or certain drug offenses for which a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years or more is prescribed. Provides that Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays shall be included in calculating any Government request for a three-day automatic continuance for a pre-trial detention hearing.
