Summary
Domestic Volunteer Service Act Amendments of 1989 - Amends the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 (the Act) to eliminate the VISTA Literacy Corps. Revises the oath or affirmation requirements for Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA volunteers). Renames Service-Learning Programs as Student Community Service Programs. Authorizes appropriations for FY 1990 through 1992 for the following National Volunteer Antipoverty Programs: (1) VISTA volunteers; (2) Student Community Service Programs; and (3) Special Volunteer Programs. Authorizes appropriations for FY 1990 through 1992 for the following National Older American Volunteer Programs: (1) the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; (2) the Foster Grandparent Program; and (3) the Senior Companion Program. Authorizes appropriations for FY 1990 through 1992 for administration and coordination under the Act.
