Summary

Middle-Aged and Older Workers Job Assistance Act - Authorizes the Secretary of Labor: (1) to make loans and grants to public and nonprofit private agencies for training designed to upgrade the work skills and capabilities of middle-aged and older persons; and (2) to develop and carry out a program for training persons to understand and respond to the manpower training and educational needs of middle-aged and older persons, especially in localities where such persons are unemployed or underemployed because of mass layoffs. Authorizes the Secretary to provide increased opportunities for part-time employment to middle-aged and older citizens. Provides a formula for the equitable distribution of assistance among the States under this Act. Authorizes $150,000,000 for fiscal year 1976 to carry out the purposes of this Act.
