Summary
Medicare Universal Product Number Act of 1999 - Sets a deadline for all claims forms used for reimbursement under the Medicare program (title XVIII of the Social Security Act (SSA)) to accommodate the use of universal product numbers (UPNs) for a UPN covered item. Amends SSA title XVIII to require any claim for reimbursement for any UPN covered item under Medicare to contain the UPN of the covered item in order for the claim to be paid. Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to study and report periodically to the Congress on the implementation of this Act. Authorizes appropriations.
