RAISE Act of 2016

Summary

Reforming American Indian Standards of Education Act of 2016 or the RAISE Act of 2016 This bill replaces the Bureau of Indian Education with the Indian Education Agency. Functions, authorities, and personnel of the Department of the Interior related to Indian education are transferred to the agency. Regulations promulgated by the agency are not subject to review or approval by Interior. The agency must give preference in hiring to members of Indian tribes. The agency must annually report on its activities, the effectiveness of this bill, and recommendations for legislation to improve the agency.
