Summary
Establishes the Chattahoochee River Urban Recreation Area composed of a 48-mile segment of the Chattahoochee River and adjoining lands in the State of Georgia from Buford Dam downstream to Peachtree Creek. Provides for the preservation of the natural features of the Chattahoochee River. Provides for adequate outdoor recreation facilities for the people of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Directs the Secretary of the Interior to establish a Commission to formulate a plan for the development and use of the area. Requires the Commission to submit its plan to the Secretary of Interior for approval. Sets forth requirements which the plan must meet before being approved. Authorizes the appropriation of such sums as may be necessary to defray the expenses of the Commission and $7,000,000 for grants to State and local governments to implement the approved plan.
