Summary

Commission on an Independent Permanent Prosecutor Act - Expresses the findings of Congress. Establishes a Commission on an Independent Permanent Prosecutor to be composed of six members appointed by the Chief Justice of the United States. Makes it the duty of the Commission: (1) to study possible means for the establishment of an independent permanent mechanism to provide for the investigation and prosecution of crimes, misdemeanors, and other offenses or acts of official misconduct alleged to have been committed by high officials in the executive branch of Government; (2) to consult with any Special Prosecutor and seek the views on recommendations proposed to be made by the Commission; and (3) to consult with the Attorney General and seek his views on recommendations proposed to be made by the Commission. Enumerates the powers of the Commission. Requires the filing of reports by the Commission. Authorizes to be appropriated to the Commission such sums as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Act not to exceed $450,000.
