Summary
Milk in Lunches for Kids Act of 2000 - Amends the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to establish pilot projects, in schools under the jurisdiction of not more than 20 school food service authorities, to improve methods through which milk is served to children under the Act and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966. Allows such authorities to use project funds for: (1) improving such methods by modernizing packaging, storage facilities, and displays; (2) expanding the variety of milk offered; and (3) other related purposes. Exempts authorities participating in such projects from certain requirements. Requires the Secretary to evaluate: (1) in approving such projects, partnerships between such authorities and producers of milk products; and (2) in a report to Congress, the impact of such projects on increasing milk consumption and reducing the cost of milk provided under the school lunch and school breakfast programs. Directs the Secretary to use a certain amount of funds, taken from funds for other activities under the Act, to carry out such projects.
