Summary
Degradable Plastics Standards Act of 1991 - Establishes the Interagency Committee on Degradable Plastics Standards to develop uniform definitions, standards, and methods of testing for degradable plastic products, to encourage the production and use of such products, and to coordinate activities under this Act. Directs the Committee to: (1) determine what factors must be considered to assess the safety of indirect food additives intended to increase the degradability of plastic food packaging materials; (2) identify methods to encourage increased usage of degradable plastics by the Federal Government; (3) consider other relevant policy, scientific, and technical matters relating to degradable plastics and solid waste management; and (4) coordinate Federal degradable plastic research and development policy.
