Consumer Product Safety Commission Authorization Act of 1983

Summary

Consumer Product Safety Commission Authorization Act of 1983 - Amends the Consumer Product Safety Act to allow for the disclosure of certain information to Commission contractors. Provides that the Product Safety Commission may assess civil penalties administratively. Restricts certain conflict of interest prohibitions for members of the Chronic Hazard Advisory Panel to prohibit participation for someone with substantial financial interest in any consumer product which may be subject to investigation (currently prohibits participation by anyone with a substantial financial interest in any consumer product). Authorizes appropriations for FY 1984 and 1985. Removes the requirement that the Commission retain certificates of compliance for sellers of products within the jurisdiction of the Flammable Fabrics Act.
