Summary
Declares the solidarity of the United States Congress in support of the democratic aspirations of the Portuguese people. Denounces the conspiratorial maneuvers of the Communists. Calls for Congressional hearings on the Portuguese crisis. Urges NATO to warn Moscow against supporting communist subversion in Portugal. Calls upon Moscow to terminate such actions. Requests that the Department of State ask the Helsinki Conference to adopt a resolution proclaiming the right of the Portuguese people to determine their form of government through free elections and to appoint a committee to supervise such an election.
