A joint resolution establishing the Hawaiian Aboriginal Claims Settlement Study Commission.

Summary

Declares that it is necessary to settle the claims of the Hawaiian aboriginals against the United States arising from the annexation of Hawaii. Establishes the Hawaiian Aboriginal Claims Settlement Study Commission. Provides that the Commission shall be composed of eleven members who shall serve without compensation. Directs the Commission to give its fullest attention and consideration to the needs and concerns of the Hawaiian aboriginals, and to make a full study with a view to determining the nature of the legitimate claims of such people. Requires the Commission to meet within the sixty-calendar-day period following the date of the approval of this resolution and to submit an interim report to the Congress concerning the activities of the Commission within the twelve-month period following approval. Directs the Commission to submit a final report to the Commission within the twenty-four month period following approval of this resolution. Provides that such report shall include findings and results of the Commission's study with recommendations of the Commission as to the manner in which, and the extent to which, such claims should be settled by the Federal Government.
