Summary
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Access and Enhancement Act - Amends Federal law to authorize the Secretary of the Interior (Secretary) to acquire the Crescent Dune area for inclusion in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Requires the Secretary to complete a study of: (1) the Deep River Corridor to inventory its natural, cultural and recreational values; and (2) Union Station to examine the feasibility of U.S. ownership and possible uses of such facility. Authorizes the Secretary to enter into a cooperative agreement with Gary, Indiana, to provide technical assistance in interpretation, planning, and resource management for programs and developments in the city Marquette Park and Lake Street Beach. Directs the Secretary to enter into a memorandum of agreement with Northern Indiana Public Service Company in which such company will provide specified services with respect to the Greenbelt area of the Lakeshore. Allows individual property owners within Lakeshore boundaries to retain use and occupancy rights on improved property for noncommercial residential purposes. Designates the National Park Service visitor center at the Lakeshore the Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center. Directs the Secretary to advise the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation to determine what lands and interests the State requires for improvements to certain roads. Requires the Secretary to submit to specified congressional committees a report identifying road rights-of-way within Lakeshore boundaries that are proposed to be relinquished. Authorizes the Secretary to reimburse the appropriate subdivision for reasonable administrative costs associated with vacating each road right-of-way. Authorizes appropriations.
