Summary
Expresses the sense of the Congress that the President should: (1) implement to the fullest extent all the provisions of the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986; (2) implement to the fullest extent the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on South Africa; (3) take steps to bring about concerted actions by U.S. allies to pressure the Government of South Africa to dismantle the system of apartheid; (4) instruct the U.S. representative to the United Nations to offer a resolution which would impose, for a 12-month period, selective mandatory sanctions on South Africa similar to those in the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986; (5) urge the European Community to adopt an immediate ban on the importation of coal from South Africa; and (6) use diplomatic and political pressure in private as well as public to strengthen the impact of the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986.
