Summary

States that the Congress: (1) supports the initiatives taken by the Contadora group and the resulting agreement by Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua to the Document of Objectives which sets forth a framework for negotiating a peaceful settlement to the conflict in Central America; (2) encourages the United Nations and other international agencies to assist in bringing peace to the region; and (3) believes that the United States should provide support in reaching agreements which will ensure a peaceful solution to the Central American conflicts.
