Summary
Commends the ethnic Albanians in the province of Kosovo, Yugoslavia, for showing restraint and supports their commitment to a peaceful and democratic solution to the problems in Kosovo. Urges: (1) the Serbian Government to engage in a peaceful, democratic dialogue with representatives of the Albanian community in Kosovo, refrain from violence and intimidation, and work to resolve the political and economic crisis in the province; (2) the Serbian president to abandon policies that have precipitated an ethnic crisis in southern Yugoslavia; and (3) the Yugoslavian and Serbian Governments to restore autonomous status to Kosovo and reestablish its legislature and government.
