Deplores the escalation of the conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia. Urges both countries to immediately bring an end to the violence. Commends the efforts of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and former U.S. National Security Adviser Anthony Lake to mediate peace between such countries. Affirms U.S. support for the OAU Framework Agreement.
