Summary

Sets forth the rule for the consideration of joint resolutions: (1) waiving certain enrollment requirements with respect to specified bills of the 105th Congress; and (2) appointing the day for convening the second session of the 105th Congress. Authorizes the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the majority and minority leaders to accept resignations and make appointments to commissions, boards, and committees following the sine die adjournment of the first session as authorized by law or the House. Adopts resolutions to provide that: (1) a committee of two Members of the House be appointed to wait upon the President and inform him that the House is ready to adjourn unless the President has other communication to make to them; and (2) the two Houses of Congress assemble in the Hall of the House on January 27, 1998, to receive a communication from the President. Lays H. Res. 306 (waiver of House rules with respect to consideration of certain resolutions reported from the Committee on Rules) on the table.
