Summary

Authorizes the expenditure of $884,000 by the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs for inquiries and investigations from March 1, 1976 through February 28, 1977. Allocates $477,000 for studies in specified areas including: (1) banking and currency generally; (2) financial aid to commerce and industry; (3) deposit insurance; (4) the Federal Reserve System; (5) economic stabilization; (6) valuation and revaluation of the dollar; (7) prices of commodities, rents, and services; (8) securities and exchange regulations; (9) credit problems of small business; and (10) international finance through agencies within the legislative jurisdiction of the committee. Directs that not to exceed $249,000 shall be available for investigation of housing and urban affairs. Allows the expenditure of $158,000 for an investigation pertaining to the securities industry. Requires the committee to report its findings and recommendations for legislation to the Senate no later than February 28, 1977. Directs that funds authorized by this Act shall be provided from the contingent fund of the Senate.
