Summary
Authorizes $676,000 for expenditure by the Senate Committee on Armed Services for inquiries and investigations for the period March 1, 1976, through February 28, 1977. Allocates such appropriations as follows: (1) $40,000 for the procurement of the services of consultants; (2) $568,000 for the investigation of specified areas including the common defense, the size and composition of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and the maintenance and operation of the Panama Canal; and (3) $68,000 for investigations pertaining to military readiness and preparedness for the common defense generally. Directs the committee to report to the Senate its findings and recommendations for legislation by February 28, 1977.
