Summary
Kehtivate seaduste järgi ei saa kohalike omavalitsuste volikogude, Riigikogu, Euroopa Parlamendi valimistel kandideerida üksnes isik, kes on kuriteos süüdi mõistetud ja kannab reaalset vanglakaristust. Sealhulgas tingimisi vanglakaristus ja eelnev karistatus kandideerimist ei takista. Eelnõu eesmärk on lõpetata ebaeetiline olukord, kus süüdi mõistetud või kehtiva ametialase kuriteo karistusega isikul on võimalik kandideerida.
