Summary
Eelnõuga kaitstakse väärtuslikku põllumajandusmaad ja piiratakse selle muul otstarbel kasutamist. Määratletakse põllumajandusmaa ning riikliku ja kohaliku tähtsusega väärtusliku põllumajandusmaa massiivi mõiste. Sätestatakse kohustus väärtuslikku põllumajandusmaad säilitada ning kehtestatakse piirangud sinna ehitamisel. Riikliku tähtsusega põllumajandusmaale ehitamine üldjuhul lubatud ei ole. Teatud tingimustel või Põllumajandusameti loal seda siiski võimaldatakse. Kohaliku tähtsusega väärtusliku põllumajandusmaa otsustab KOV. Seadus on planeeritud jõustuma 1. jaanuaril 2019. Väärtuslikku põllumajandusmaad kaitsvad kitsendused rakenduvad aasta möödumisel seaduse jõustumisest arvates ehk pärast seda, kui riikliku tähtsusega väärtuslikud põllumajandusmaad on määratud. Samal ajal rakenduvad ka maapõueseaduse ja planeerimisseaduse muudatused
