That this House welcomes the first year anniversary of civil partnership registrations in Northern Ireland (19th December 2006), Scotland and Wales (20th December 2006) and England (21st December 2006); notes that the Civil Partnership Act 2004 has given hundreds of thousands of same-sex couples the same legal protection, particularly in pensions and inheritance rights, as heterosexual couples; and recognises the dedicated campaigning work of all those involved in fighting for equality for all, regardless of their sexual orientation.
