HAMDT 395 (100th)
An amendment to strike provisions which authorize payments of $20,000 to U.S. citizens and permanent resident aliens of Japanese ancestry who were confined, held in custody, relocated, or otherwise deprived of liberty or property as a result of the World War II internment program. The amendment reduces the total funding authorized under the bill from $1.25 billion to $ 50 million thereby eliminating the reparation payments and retaining funding for educational programs.
