Summary
Interim Waste Act - Instructs the Secretary of Energy to: (1) accept spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste beginning not later than January 31, 1998; and (2) design, construct, and operate interim storage facilities for spent nuclear fuel. Mandates: (1) licensure of interim storage facilities by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; (2) commencement of operations by January 31, 1998; and (3) location of the facilities at the Savannah River Nuclear site and the Hanford Nuclear site.
