Summary

Injury Prevention and Control Amendments of 1993 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to carry out specified activities with respect to domestic violence and sexual assault, including: (1) collecting data relating to the incidence of such violence and assault; (2) making grants to public and nonprofit entities for the evaluation of programs whose purpose is to prevent such violence and assault; (3) providing to the public information and education on such violence and assault; (4) training health care providers to identify individuals whose medical condition or statements indicate that they are victims of such violence and assault and to refer them to entities that provide related services; and (5) making grants to public and nonprofit private entities for demonstration projects with respect to such violence and assault. Directs the Secretary to establish an advisory committee to advise the Secretary and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with respect to the prevention and control of injuries. Revises reporting requirements under the Act to include periodic reporting of activities carried out with respect to such violence and assault and with respect to rural areas. Authorizes the Secretary to work in cooperation with other Federal agencies and with public and nonprofit private entities to promote activities regarding the prevention and control of injuries (currently, limited to injury control). Directs the Secretary to disseminate information concerning the practical applications of research conducted or assisted to the public, including elementary and secondary schools. Authorizes appropriations.
